Jetted Bathtubs - Two Different Kinds of Jets

Almost everyone loves the idea of having jetted bathtubs in their bathroom. Whenever your body is achy after working out or due to physical problems, no doubt you dream of stepping into a warm bath with jets working your body over and making you feel great. Not only do these tubs provide a great soak that will make you feel great, but they also look wonderful in your bathroom as well. However, it is important to note that not all jetted bathtubs are exactly the same, and you need to understand the differences between them before you decide to purchase one.

When it comes to jetted tubs, there are two different types of jets that you may find in them. There are water jets and there are air jets as well. These jets are quite different, so you will want to know a bit about the jets and which kind you prefer before you go on your shopping trip for a new bathtub.

Water Jets
Water jets are jets in a bathtub that put out water. These types of jets often give a better in-bath massage than air jets do. These jets re-circulate the water through the tub, which gives you the massage type feeling. The one bad thing about water jets is that they do require a great deal of cleaning. While some come with a cleaning system, others require that you clean them on your own. If you have a tub with water jets, you will not be able to use bubble bath or special bath salts while you are using the jets either.

Air Jets
Air jets are quite a bit different from water jets, and these type of jets actually put out air instead of water. This gives you more of a bubble type feeling instead of the more intense massage of the water jets. On the positive side, you can use bubble bath and bath salts in a tub that has air jets. If you choose an air jet system, there will probably be a few dozen different jets, as opposed to the 4-10 jets that are usually in a water jet system.

Both water jets and air jets have their place, but you will have to decide what you want out of your jetted bathtubs. If you want the ability to use various bath oils, crystals, or bubbles, then an air jet tub is a great choice. However, if you are more concerned about having a nice invigorating massage, then the water jets may be your best choice.

These jetted bathtubs usually start out around $1500, but some of the more luxurious ones can cost as much as $10,000. They are definitely a great addition to your bathroom, but you do want to be sure that you get the type of jet system that you want in your new tub.
